Meet Your Physiotherapist

Frances Rafiq
Chartered Physiotherapist

Physiotherapist in Broadstairs and Margate | HCPC Registered

Frances is a Chartered Physiotherapist in Broadstairs and Margate and an HCPC-registered practitioner with extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. Her approach is personal and practical, taking time to understand your symptoms, what you want to get back to doing, and tailoring treatment and rehabilitation around you.

Experience

Frances has many years of experience in orthopaedics, trauma and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including senior roles within consultant-led orthopaedic and A&E clinics at major teaching hospitals across the West Midlands.

Before relocating to Thanet, Frances worked for South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, working across Warwick and Stratford Hospitals as well as local GP surgeries. Alongside her NHS role, she also worked in private practice at KPC Therapy Centre in Warwick, treating a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

After moving to Thanet, Frances continued her career in private musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including working from Hawley Health Centre in Margate, where she continues to see patients on Mondays.

Frances also worked with Thanet Wanderers Rugby Club, providing physiotherapy support for player injuries as well as pitch-side trauma care. This gave her further experience in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.

More recently, Frances has worked as a self-employed physiotherapist with Momentum Healthcare, providing private musculoskeletal physiotherapy and rehabilitation to patients across Thanet.

Frances is now returning her full focus to CorPhysio, allowing her to once again work independently through her own practice and provide personalised physiotherapy and rehabilitation directly to her patients.

Pilates & Personalised Rehabilitation

Frances is a qualified Pilates instructor and uses Pilates-based exercise alongside physiotherapy and rehabilitation where appropriate. One-to-one sessions allow exercises to be adapted to your individual ability, symptoms and goals, helping to improve strength, mobility, control and confidence with movement.

Frances’ Approach

Frances believes physiotherapy works best when treatment is built around the individual, not just the diagnosis. She takes time to understand your symptoms, how they affect your day-to-day life and, importantly, what you want to get back to doing.

Your first appointment begins with a thorough assessment so Frances can understand what may be contributing to your problem. She will explain her findings and agree a treatment and rehabilitation plan with you, combining the most appropriate treatment, exercise and advice to help you recover, move more confidently and work towards your goals.
